MoT hosts ‘Tigers and Tourism’ webinar

A slow and steady lift of lockdown is being noticed around the country, and with the recommence of airlines and trains, travel is getting new hope. To boost tourism, the Ministry of Tourism recently organised a webinar on ‘Tigers and Tourism’. The webinar was hosted under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ series and was focused on highlighting the rich heritage of tiger habitation in India and its significance with tourism with respect to India.

Smt Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism moderated the session and introduced Mr. Sandesh Kadur, an eminent wildlife conservation photographer and filmmaker, National Geographic Fellow, winner of BAFTA in photography and an EMMY nominee for outstanding cinematography.

Mr Sandesh Kadur shared his aspiration and his inspiration to document the big cats for a living. He travelled across India almost eight years ago with an objective to document a video on Tigers and Tourism. The journey gave him a detailed understanding of how Indian tourism is highly influenced by these mighty striped creatures.

India has about 70 per cent of the world’s tiger population with about 15 species existing in 50 reserves spread across the country.
